ECPO Concert in the Park

We recently had the pleasure of providing staging, sound and technical services for the annual East Cape Philharmonic Concert in the Park. The event took place over two days and we provided our Contac Systems ground support, 13.5m x 10m with a 12m x 11m Contac systems floor. The PA system was a d&b audiotechnik J-system, consisting of 6 a side line array mid high boxes and matching sub woofers. At FOH we had two Yamaha M7 digital consoles to cater for the 96 input channels required by the orchestra.

The following is a letter sent to a local newspaper commenting on the function:

High Praise for sound engineer at concert

I was very fortunate to attend the top-notch ECPO Concert in the Park. The weather played along beautifully, and it was a truly special evening.I would like to pay particular tribute to the sound engineering supplied for the concert by Neil Leachman of Event Hire. Having been involved in amateur theatre for many years, I am very aware that sound engineering is a strange animal. If the sound in a production is bad, EVERYBODY notices, but if it is good, NO-ONE usually does! The excellent sound engineering at the concert, therefore, probably went unnoticed by many. For this reason, I would like to praise Leachman for the outstanding job he did. It was quite evident that he is an experienced musician himself and clearly, therefore, knows what an orchestra should sound like. Every instrument in the orchestra was audible. Each solo voice was amplified and balanced with the orchestra so that every word could be heard (naturally, highly talented performers help!). No sound (instrumental or vocal) overpowered any other. A job well done, Event Hire! Hopefully the powers that be at the ECPO will award you with a highly lucrative long-term contract!
